There are two major comprehensive riding programs for horse enthusiasts of all ages and levels in Bergen County.
The horse-riding programs are designed to give students the opportunity to gain practical education and the hands-on experience of learning and riding at a premier equestrian facility.
These two accredited facilities believe that all students should know and practice standard safety rules for working around horses, which includes how to approach and halter a horse, lead a horse, groom, saddle and bridle correctly.
Students can learn about stable management, day-to-day care, grooming, presenting show/sale horses, starting young horses, training, riding, driving and general veterinary care.
Your first riding lesson will be considered an introduction or evaluation and will be either a 1/2 hour or 1-hour private lesson.
Together with your instructor, you will assess any skills you might have and discuss the technical ‘how-to’ and the fundamentals of learning about horses and riding.
The competition sized outdoor jumping ring, regulation sized dressage arena, and 60′ round pen provides riders with ample place to lesson, school and train.
More experienced riders will enjoy the opportunity to ride on the various bridle paths, trails, and fields. With the addition of the cross country course and large indoor riding ring, you will look forward to a variety of events including Horse Shows, Clinics, Horse Trials and the annual Halloween Trail Ride & Hunter Pace.
Your safety is always a priority, and lesson goals are tailored to each individual’s ability and proficiency.
Riders are encouraged to learn through hands-on experiences with show-quality horses or ride their own.
